I've always wanted to touch people in some creative way. I've made short films, drawn pictures, written poetry, and tried to act in plays. The problem I ran into with a lot of those things is if you don't have the money and/or the supplies, you can't pursue those things.

Funny thing, you may not have the money for props for a movie, but you can always find the words. And that's why writing is so powerful for me. On an e-reader, on a computer, on a piece of paper, or scratched onto a tree trunk with a dull rock, words are always there for you to use.

Nice blog, by the way.Justin Dowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17083884379574006541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4282953557162980573.post-58104175269689821432011-07-05T13:20:47.379-07:002011-07-05T13:20:47.379-07:00That's such a lovely story, I loved the BFG (a...That's such a lovely story, I loved the BFG (and all Dahl's books) when I was little, in fact I still have it on my book shelf.. Anyway I tracked you down here! I love that story about your little friend - I'll bet he's been a bookworm ever since.

Would you like to "repurpose" (lovely word, huh - means rewrite a bit!) that story as a guest post for my site? I want to do more on creative writing and fiction, and this would be a lovely place to start.

The angle might be (your choice, though!) that the magic of fiction and storytelling via the written word is very powerful - perhaps even more powerful than movies or TV because it allows you to create your own, personal picture of the plot and the characters rather than someone else's visual interpretation, i.e. the movie director. Could that be what really captured your little pal's imagination?

Anyway, hope to hear from you.

You can contact me direct on suze@suzanstmaur.com.

All good wishes

SuzeSuzan St Maurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10537832307545669212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4282953557162980573.post-73288564439538596582011-07-05T08:27:41.692-07:002011-07-05T08:27:41.692-07:00@ 3red Ahh, writer's block. But that subject deserves an entire blog post of its own.

So, today I shall write about writer's block! Thanks for giving me a great subject to chat about.

Thanks for commenting and I'm glad you liked the quote. It's a little sexist (should say husband OR wife), but very true. Happy writing to you, too!Kylahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01793288607844743336noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4282953557162980573.post-8425026720767186682011-07-05T08:12:21.513-07:002011-07-05T08:12:21.513-07:00I love the quote you ended with. I have to ask (as I have much trouble with this) do you experience writer's block, and how do you get past it? I am on chapter 5 of my book and am STUCK. I know what happens in the next chapeter and the next (I have a pretty decent outline of the entire book) but can't get past the current page I'm on. Frustrating. I have been browsing blogs like yours in hopes someone else's persistance will spark my own.
